Care Instructions for Polymer Clay Jewelry

While polymer clay is a flexible material, we strongly recommend that you do NOT bend your clay earrings.  Treat them as you would any other jewelry item.  They can wear down over time if not taken care of properly.

Make sure to store your earrings in a dry place when you are not wearing them.  Keep jewelry away from perfume, chemicals, harsh jewelry cleaners, and avoid wearing them in the shower or in bodies of water.  Avoid storing them in a place that they can easily get scratched by harder materials.

Try to refrain from sleeping in your earrings, as this could increase the risk of the post breaking off from the clay piece.

Messes happen, and sometimes makeup can transfer onto jewelry.  If your earrings are dirty/stained by makeup, you can use a soft cloth with a little soap and water, or an unscented baby wipe.  A Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol can help clean clay pieces for tough stains.

We use resin frequently on top of our jewelry, and to secure our posts to the pieces.  Please avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, excessive heat, and chemicals.  Store any jewelry with resin in a dark, airtight space to prevent discoloration and degradation.  Regularly examine, and polish with soft microfiber cloth to maintain clarity.

Some earrings can be accented with brass metal charms.  Due to the nature of brass, it can tarnish over time - this is from oxidization.  You can refresh your brass pieces with a mixture of lemon juice and baking soda, or Brasso.

Stainless steel findings can be lightly cleaned with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol, but do avoid getting rubbing alcohol on the resin securing your post if it is a studded piece, as the alcohol can cause the resin to become tacky.
